GoShootingToday.com Racing brings out the "Big Guns!"
GoShootingToday.com Racing has finalized its driver lineup for the upcoming 12 Hours of Dromo 1 Endurance race to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Joining the current drivers (Craig Stanton, Robin Deans, Mike Kai and Jober Velasco) will be Phil Giebler and Brad Packard.
Phil Giebler is a three time American National Karting Champion and veteran of the European Junior Formula circuit. Phil was the first American to land a factory drive with the World Championship Tony Kart Team. In 1999, Phil was also the first and only American to win in the world famous ELF/La Filiere Formula Renault Championship. Moving up to French F3, he produced 4 wins, 11 podiums, 8 poles, 7 fastest laps and 3 track records in 12 races. He continued his successes in the 2000 UK Formula Palmer / Audi Winter Cup by winning both the Team USA Scholarship and the championship. In 2004 back in the United States he scored a win in the Firestone Indy Lights Series at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The following year he was selected as Team USA's driver in the A1GP series. In 2007, he qualified for the Indianapolis 500 and was awarded rookie of the race.
Brad Packard, creator of the Dromo 12 Hour race and former race director, has probably seen more races at the track than anyone else. He is currently General Manager at the CalSpeed Karting facility at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA. He is no stranger to on track competition having contested several Dromo 1 Grand Prixs as well as competing in the Indoor Karting World Championship (IKWC). In the 2007 IKWC, Brad overcame a 30th place starting position to finish 5th.
Craig Stanton is a two time Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series Champion and perhaps the fittest man in motorsports. Craig was part of the winning team in 2008 and finished second in 2009. A veteran of many professional endurance races, he is currently preparing for one of the biggest, the Rolex 24 at Daytona. His impressive resume boasts wins in Grand Am, the American Le Mans Series, Koni Challenge Series and the Speed World Challenge.
Robin Deans is a former Dromo 1 Grand Prix Series Champion and the guiding force behind Deans Inc, maker of the world's finest electrical connectors for RC enthusiasts. Robin, along with Craig, won the inaugural race in 2008 and finished second in 2009.
Mike Kai won the Dromo 1 Grand Prix Series Championship in 2008 and with SBF Racing finished fourth in the 12 Hour Race in 2009. The CEO and founder of Lifeyo.com, Mike is poised for his best ever result in 2010.
Jober Velasco is the president of GoShootingToday.com and is no stranger to the racing circuit. A veteran of the Dromo 1 Grand Prix Series, Endurance Series, Golden State Karting Cup and Skip Barber, Jober finished fourth in the inaugural 12 Hour race with SBF Racing and followed that up with a win in the following Endurance event.
While this would appear to be the final driver lineup heading into the event, anything is possible as GoShootingToday.com was linked with several other drivers including 24 Hours of Le Mans winner and Porsche Factory driver Patrick Long, Red Bull Driver Search finalist Colin Fleming, and past event winner and F2000 driver Efrain Olivares. Tune in on race day to see who may show up.
